Lord I Could've Saved This Old Heart
Don't ask me if she still loves me
All I know is, I'm going crazy
Don't say I sound a little different
When I'm laughing, it's only pretence
It seems like everyone knows I'm alone
Lifeless like a stone - without your love
And I can't get the words out when we talk on the line
And when you ask about me, I simply lie that I'm fine
A new love may not be to hard to find
But I can't get you out of my heart and mind
If I'd thought before I put my heart on the line
Lord, I could've saved this ol' heart of mine
Don't tell me that she's hurt me for fun
My baby doesn't even know what she's done
Can't help wondering if she's really happy now
I really hope she's finds true love somehow
But if she's ever depressed by her desolateness
She'll realize that I tried to give her my best
Still can't get no words out as I hear your lines
How can you ask about me, when you know I'm not fine?
I should've been cautious right from the start
But love listens to the heart till it's blown apart
If my faith in her hadn't made me so blind
Lord, I could've saved this old heart of mine.
