 Follow the Leader

As children, we played this game
Christians are followers of His name
Many past leaders were not men of fame
But God used them mightily just the same

Saul became king by the ways of man
His rule ended differently than it began
David was chosen by God's divine plan
His life was in the palm of God's hand

David was just a simple shepherd boy
His music and poetry brought people joy
He played the harp not like a mere toy
It soothed Saul's soul, easing his ploy

David was a man after God's own heart
His life was Spirit-filled in every part
His creative ability was a masterful art
God was preparing him from the start

He was a human, who fell into sin
He paid the price over and over again
He confessed, knowing who he believed in
God forgave him and he had peace within

Where is your life with God today?
Are you trying to live your own way?
Don't be concerned what others say
Allow God to guide you each day

1 Samuel 16:7 (NASB)
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or
at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God
sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance,
but the LORD looks at the heart."
