Heart Of The Matter

Ever Longing

Love?

What more to say about love?
That strange elusive feeling,
Sent to drive us crazy,
Sleep deprived,
Lovesick and longing ….
Ever longing,
For that one ray of hope,
Sent on a moonbeam,
In the night.

This love,
Distant and dreaded,
Tempting and tortured,
Yet all consuming,
Plucking playfully,
On the heartstrings,
Of the lonesome victim,
Of  the game.

It makes you high,
This love,
Soon you're addicted,
Like a junkie,
To cocaine,
And it seems, you just can't wait,
Until it hits on you,
Again.

Another high,
Then indescribably low,
Withdrawal and pain,
Torturous mistrust,
And longing,
Ever longing,
For the rain.
