By Chance
If by chance
you turned it around
or maybe it was all
water under a bridge
could we ever be happy?
I would like to not ignore your phone calls
going through all the motions
but to know a true connection is formed
I would change my lyrics
you would be a privilege
someone I looked forward to
someone I considered meaningful
if by chance
your personality wasn't so painful
If by chance
you could lighten up
not being so set in your righteous ideals
if you could let some things slide
let love come inside
then I think you would find
a stimulation you have never had in your life
if by chance
you could turn the corner
that would be pivotal
and if by chance this happens
I will be just around the corner
never abandoned
even when I saw two faces
I won't hold my breath
that you will suddenly change
but I will keep hope alive
at the other end of the line
and just maybe....who knows
