Heart Of The Matter

A Chance Encounter

Strange how our paths,
Have crossed again,
We shared three years,
Way, way, back when,
You!
My summer of '69,
How you've matured!
Like vintage wine,

You always looked like him, you know?
My favourite hunk from Status Quo,
You look the very same today,
And looked at me,
That same old way,

You played guitar,
Sang in a band,
Were great at tricks,
The sleight of hand,
Yes, I remember,
All too well,
The game of chase,
The kiss and tell,

Today you asked,
Did I ever care?
Or love again?
I didn't dare,
I answered with,
A silent smile,
My God! My friend,
It's been a while,

I'm on the web,
Here's my address,
Did I love you?
Yes, oh Yes,
For what it's worth,
This one's for you,
The one who broke,
My heart in two,

Now looking back,
There's no charades,
No pain, no tears,
Just four decades!
You used to sing,
This song to me,
It's in the past,
A memory.

My first love,
So young, insane,
Strange how our paths,
Just crossed again.

They say you always remember your first love, I remember you,  and I did love you, you heartbreaker!  I'm happy now and it's good to see you are too. It was nice spending that time with you again. I know you'll read this, here's the song and the memory.
(and you DO still look like Francis Rossi!)
(Have I embarrassed you? X)
