Beautiful Disaster

Here by the Sea

Waves crash against the shore
Up in the air seagulls soar
Smells of salt in the air
Wind messes up her hair
Notebook and pen in hand
Feet in the sand
Here she can be free
Here by the sea
In her head she plays back the scene in slow motion
Of people splashing around in the ocean
She sees children's sand creations
And hears their cries of elation
Some people play
Others lie out under the sun's rays
Here they can be free
Here by the sea
She watches and smiles
Taking it in all the while
She wants to join in and take part
But she's not sure how to start
Sitting on  the outside
Trying to hide
Can she be free?
Here by the sea
