Unrequited Love

Unrequited Love

If you can't fix it
you must stand it
through hell or high water
so many temptations
I could have taken
but they are all gone
with doubt I squandered
as you waited for my reply
but it never came
time was just too late
and then you had to say goodbye

a place I go back to
that only we know
it helps me smile
even if it's only once in awhile
our history was left by twisted fate
the unraveling was never sudden
no certainty on which choice
made our tents fold
but now it's just music never played
and a lyric never wrote
we always seemed to be just a step away
from being together and being saved
why didn't the sun shine on us?

So now it's just me and my regrets
you the ghost that is whispering
miles of land ahead of me
with no one to share my discoveries
and in leaving I remeber you saying
you had a better plan once
when we could have been together
when we should have been together
but I refused to take that road
now I can never have it back
this hurts more than anyone will ever know
my heart broken and closed
sound of unrequited love
