The Story of Na-gah #297

The Story of Na-gah

As legend tells it, years ago,
The people of the sky,
So rushing were they to and fro,
They left their trails on high.
While gazing up, we surely know
The legend to be true
For, like the stars, our lives do tow
A trail that leaves a clue
That in our living, as we go,
Our paths are fading too.

Well, when the world was very new,
One born upon the earth
Could climb up where he wanted to
And did so from his birth.
His name was Na-gah, like the ewe,
Who lived up in the peaks
And, as the youngster grew and grew,
He climbed the more each week
Until the world made much adieu
About him, so to speak.

Yes, Na-gah sought the highest peak
To climb its highest spot,
But, as he climbed, the path grew bleak
And bleaker still it got.
He climbed and climbed, the top to seek,
And kept on climbing still
In hopes to one day catch a peek
And there his dream fulfill.
Though planned he much, a sure technique,
The trek seemed past his skill.

But, by pure luck or by sheer will,
A passage Na-gah found
That led him up to feel the thrill
Of reaching Higher Ground.
While, on the top, where joy did spill,
Was great to see the world;
Above, in space, where felt such chill,
Beyond where planets twirled,
Where known each mountain, every hill,
And every dream unfurled.

Then, as with bliss, Na-gah gazed on,
And rumbling shook the ground,
The passage traveled, crumbled, gone,
Was path no longer found
When Father Sun, now, in his dawn,
Came walking on the sky
And saw the evils goings on,
Saw that his son might die,
Saw to his plan that he should spawn
A star for you and I.

No, not a star like other stars,
For Na-gah's is most bright
And never does he move that far
Like other stars at night.
Yes, Na-gah's is the Northern Star
That's always found in sight,
No matter where or who you are,
He'll set your bearings right,
So, as you climb to reach your star,
Your trails be dressed in light.
