Fallen
I awaken, in a fever
My eyes stuck shut
I rubbed them and
They are on fire
On the cold floor
Laying in a wet liquid
I don't know how long
I had been unconscious
A beam of light across the room
Invades the darkness
Thru a half blocked window
A peculiar odor surrounds me
I hear tiny little steps
Squeaking clamoring
Dust webs everywhere
Did I fall down the stairs?
My head hurt, my hair matted
I can't move feeling a bite
Then more, lots more
I scream they stop
They run away and hide
Watching me, ready to charge
I try to get up, it's not easy
I slip in the wetness
Land on my back
Bang my head
Something gooey
On my hands
I keep slipping
Trying to get up
Can't get to my feet
Piece by piece they bite
I scream, they run
But, not as far as they did
A momentary break
As I lose my heat
As the last bit of energy
Leaves me, to pass from this life
I say a prayer asking
God to receive me
