I heard my first country song
When I was only four~
From then on I guess I was country
It all became the music I adore~
How I then imagined I played fine guitar
On one I had as a toy~
And getting up onto a chair
When I was but a boy~
How I wanted to sing and ride that range
And help the world of plight~
And tuning into the wireless then
I'd listen to country music every night~
I knew every single song and lyric
How I'd sing and yodel every cry~
I wanted so to be like Gene Autry then
And be Hopalong riding under that clear blue sky~
how I loved Smiley burnett and Hank
Tom mix and then a few~
They then sang about life as was
And in many ways they still do~
Over time I've ridden all those horses
Worked on fencelines long and hard~
Been rescued by the pickups at the show
And broke in wild brumbies in a yard~
Written more songs than I can remember

How i still love that country music
Love a country song played tight~
Country song , Love those country songs
The musical fingerprints of our life~
If a country song was able
I'd more n likely have one for my wife~
