Towers of rock so tall of every shape
Towering high so regal~
Pointing up into the sky
Some higher than the eagle~
Even flowers on them I can see
One wonders simply how~
Ever so far above the ground
The things nature does allow~
Every shade of sandstone beauty
The browns and yellows and even blues~
Rocky edges sharp and long
Towering into the clouds and through~
Pillows of magestic splender
Calved alone by natures hand~
Simply spiraling into the sky
Ever sublime and ever so grand~
I felt man had never mounted them
I feel that there could be no way~
As they stoof and pointed up towards the sky
Looking up one imagined that they sway~
But sway they never would or could
These towering rocks so tall in splender~
Id have loved to see them a million years ago
In their earlier day of beauty to surrender~
Those sculptured sandstone towers
Many generations in their time died~
Having myself feel so small
As they towered up towards the sky~
Takes ones mind back in time
To a place Ive never been~
What this place looked like back then
How Id loved to have seen~
Colors man could never paint
In rock forms of natures glory~
How little we know of earth we love so
Id give anything to hear its story~
Beauty beyond the spoken word
For it could never do justice to explain~
The grandest natural sights to be seen
Calved by nature , wind and rain~
