Heart Of The Matter
A Border, Breached In Time
Hours in separation,
Days of certain pain,
Anxious thoughts, confusion,
Till you come home again,
Battles fought in earnest,
The enemy unseen,
Holding to the promise,
Saying what you mean,
Yet love is set for victory,
When lovers take the stand,
Recall the tender kisses,
The welcome wonderland,
A love song interrupted,
When dismal duty calls,
A mire of mixed emotion,
As another soldier falls,
The lovers fight for freedom,
Separation, but a crime,
There are rules of disengagement,
A border, breached in time.
