When I am Gone
When I am gone,
What will you say?
That you love me-
Why not today?
When my ashes
Are spread around-
Will you forgive
my many wrongs?
And will I be
The heroine?
Will you recall
The good things, then?
When I am gone,
Where will you be?
Keening loudly-
For sympathy?
When I am gone,
Please just forget,
For I don't want
False sentiment.
If you can't say
Good here and now;
Then don't pretend-
When I am gone.
