Why is it that we have beaten our women
Into this image
Into this extreme
Into this place
Where they cannot take a friggen
Compliment!?!?!?
Well not really
Except that
The truth is
But I can't
And so the list goes on
And on!
Isn't it sad
That after our culture has done
Such a good job of beating their self esteem
Into a pulp
That they no longer need
Any one to do it to them
They then have an internal voice
To berate them
To tell them
They are no good
Or at the very least not good enough
If I could beat every man
Every woman
Every mother
Every father
Every person in authority
Every peer
That beat each of the beautiful souls
I see every day
I would
That the hardest thing in
The world for each of them to do
Is to utter the words
Thank you
When complimented.
But the truth is
That each of those people
I would wish to beat
Has their own
Little judge
In their own head
In a sea
That goes back to the dawn of time
Of parents
And priests
And families
And friends
Who have passed on this
Poison for a
Thousand generations
So ladies
As much as you want to
Be demure
Be humble
Be true
I beg you
Say thank you
Immediately
Graciously
Proudly
Warmly
So that your daughters
Your nieces
Your friends
And any other women
Or future women
Who see you
Will learn from your example
That it's ok to say thank you
That it's beautiful
That it's normal
To say thank you
And be a strong woman
To stop the heresy
Of thousands of years
Of putting down women
Because that's where they are supposed to be.
Say thank you ladies
Because you are beautiful
You are talented
You are smart
You are creative
You are such a great lady
In what every unique form
Of the Goddess
You are.
And I love you…
So now
With one voice
To stop the tide
Of those culturally beating down inner voices
Say as one….
