SUMMER EVENING

The lightening strikes across the sky
In pale pink sunset, white clouds roll by
The rain rolls down into my town
And thunder's roar and boom is all around

The sky flashes with white
I'm here alone on this stormy night
The storm rages on in my heart
Wondering why we are apart

Your hands are all I want to feel
Those lips on mine so soft and warm and real
Thunder crashes through my mind
The heavens cry at the same time

Release the rain and let it pour
And life's passions freely soar
Across my pen now at my place
Or with soft kisses all over your face

I hear the sounds of splashing rain
Echoing go see him again
Be a fool once more
For that sweet man I adore

The sky puts out a silver gray
I think about you everyday
On summer evenings as this one
A storm somehow has drenched our fun

I started calling you at night
Just one ring to say goodnight
As I close my eyes and say my prayers
Thunder, rain, and lightening tears

Across my soul and heart and mind
Because you would bring the sunshine
Into this stormy summer night
By giving up what feels so right.
