A broken lady is what she was
Full of compassion and love
Her childhood had been such a mess
In adulthood she strived to do her best
Not many knew the pain that she felt
If they did their heart would melt
Not just from the life stories she'd tell
But how she escaped the clutches of hell
Family was always the center of her life
Yet it was her family that caused most of her strife
Abused in all ways that one could only imagine
She held her head high for her heart held compassion
So many hurts she carried inside
Somedays the memories would make her cry
Wondering why did they toy with her life
Soon those hurts would start to die
For the Father above had plans for her life
To become a young mother and a wife
So young but yet she was now safe
No longer in fear of abuse to take place
No it didn't continue on her then
It was passed on to her children
She loved them and tried to keep them safe
But the enemy was on watch to forsake
Her heart almost broke right in half
But surely the enemy had a good laugh
First her childhood innocence was lost
Now her babies had to pay the rotten cost
Both from family and then a stranger
Father in heaven remove us from danger
She cried outward and inward too
No words could describe the emotions renewed
Her children like herself stood tall
Almost like nothing had happened at all
Life can be so cruel but they made it past
Glory be to God the pain doesn't have to last
Now her children are all grown
The loves of her life have now left home
What will she do to fill the void and space
She'd pray to her Lord for his amazing grace
Oh yes....she prayed to the Lord
She got in the bible and devoured His word
Yes she's still married but hobbies overtook
The once mesmerized husband from just a look
The ageless love she'd known all along
Lives in her heart so deep and so strong
Emptiness no longer dwells in her house
The love of Jesus envelopes it now
A safety net to always run to
A love so tender to guide her through
Strengthening her with His awesome power
Building her up like the Eiffel tower
Yes... she's important and has so much worth
That was His purpose since her birth
She praises Him for the heart He gave her now
Never allowing bitterness to overtake her somehow
For she is a daughter of the most high King
For the record this little girl and woman was me
Mercy and grace shall follow and keep us from harm
Our many angels watch over and keep us warm
I prayed for the ones that hurt me back then
Most are now passed and I hope healed within
I never knew Jesus was such a healer
But He rescued me from the deceiver
I now live my life to exalt and serve Him
Writing poetry that was once hidden
I rejoice in touching others from the heart
I guess this was his purpose for me from the start
