Heart Of The Matter

I Sat At Your Table

I came to sit at your table,
You fed me with lies and deceit,
I quenched my thirst in your longing,
The wine that you proffered was sweet,

My hand you held in your pocket,
With a heart that you borrowed in time,
I rested a while in your honour,
Your company, Lover, sublime,

I wandered a while in my musing,
Nothing left that I wanted to say,
So wild, so willing and eager,
You excel in the game that you play,

I came to sit at your table,
You plied me with woeful regret,
The main course was bitterly potent,
And I left, as you served up dessert.
