 THE INTIMACY OF STRANGERS

belashaktymelissaahowellsboundariesoftime
Oh, Father!

Oh Father!
Where are you?
Why did you leave me?
I miss you so!

Oh, Father,
you came back for me...
Why did you take me with you?
Why did you bring me here?

I miss my parks...the doves.
The white doves, the grass, the smell
of wet earth.
My black earth, my sweet earth
It holds my blood.
I miss my mountains, Father!
What am I to do?
Take me back!
They are still waiting for me.
They love me.
They are still wanting me.

And time belongs to seasons
to snow and rain.
Father!
Can you hear me?
Time is not money
No, Father don't listen to them!
They're lying.

Oh, Father!
I will wait for you
every Sunday
in the park
with the white doves,
the dirty clouds,
the sharp air
will cut my skin.
Oh, Father,
I will miss you!
