-*-*-- Enjoying The Rain -*-.*--Child's Poem
When I was but a little child living in Belize
I loved to play out in the rain which always made me sneeze
My Dad would take my tiny hand and we would skip along
In the rain we sang out loud very silly songs
We would splash and dance about getting very wet
Which made my dearest Mommy at once begin to fret
"You will catch your death of cold!", she always said to me
"Don't play out in the rain! You will fall and hurt your knee!"
But Daddy held on tight to me and we would linger there
Neath the trees and pouring rain without a single care
At last soaking wet and dripping on the rug
We would hurry in to find hot cocoa in our mug
And one day to my surprise I came down with a cold
Stuffy nose and coughing! I wish I'd done what I was told
Mommy nursed me back to health with aspirins and rubs
From that day on I'd rather soak in a warm bathtub
Through the years my Dad grew older not playful as before
And I grew wise and grown up too not silly anymore
