 My today's thoughts

SAYING  FAREWELL

Saying Farewell

I stood on the wharf  watching the whitecaps crash on the rocks below
Gone was the large ship that carried my love away
I looked till it became only a speck in the distance horizon

The sun was warm on my skin
I felt a breeze caress my cheek
soft as the tips of his fingers

Tears stung my eyes like the salt spray from the ocean
Gone was yesterday's promise of being together forever
Gone was the life I once loved and cherished

Left was the emptiness of days ahead
Long and lonely filled with dread
 not knowing what lay ahead

Tomorrow I would head my car for the eastern sun
Retracing that trail of tears that was
forged so long ago
Heartache was my only friend

I can still feel the way my skirt twirled around my legs
as the wind blew soft against me
I stood on the wharf watching the whitecaps rush in
Gone was the ship that carried my love away
