Wisdom's End

People have always told me
You grow wiser, with age,
But, why is it that the fools
Always seem to be at center stage?

Fools seem to preach
But, do they not know?
Life can be shortened
When you reap, what you sow.

The wise stand tall
Not a hair is out of place,
For they, are the ones
Whom care for the human race.

Fools can act stupid
And wage war on the world,
For they care not
About the hurt, that's been hurled.

Before a child hits a certain age
They know wrong from right,
For fools can cast the stones,
The wise, are their beacon of light.

So, yes, I believe in this
"Life long to the fool, short to the wise,"
For fools know not what they do
Others hold wisdom, within their own eyes.

I was told (for a contest), to take this quote, "Life long to the fool, short to the wise," and write a poem out of what I thought it meant.
