Any Last Words

As I lie hear fading, dying in this disease
Wishing for a way to make time freeze
Longing for the chance to do something right
Maybe some redemption as I'm drawn into the light
Knowing it's too late for me to save myself
But maybe a few last words to someone else
If I could have just an hour, not the whole day
Without any hesitation, I know what I'd say
Life is too short, you are much too young
Being cool is not important, at times it's just dumb
You're not really getting high, just look around
You are actually lying face flat on the ground
Drugs are not the answer, drinking won't get it done
You may as well face your problems, take them one on one
You can live with a broken heart or some bumbs on the head
But take it from me, it's a lot better than being dead
Well technically if you're dead you wouldn't even know
But what about those few precious seconds before you go
Any last words that you would have to say
Or any steps toward reconciliation are taken away
Dying here in this disease, all I can see
Is the countless other people who will die just like me
It's funny, you don't think about what life is until it's gone
Once you realize it, there's no time to live on
As I think about the many loved ones I didn't love
Who will tearfully pray for my forgivness up above
Beating themselves, kicking themselves, and wondering why
With all there was to live for, why did I want to die
How I wish now to have someone ask for any last words
I would surely speak out and make sure that I was heard
The choices were there and they were mine to make
I would beg everyone not to make the same mistakes
Then I would ask forgivness for all the pain I caused
And try to ease the burden of guilt for my flaws
Then as the last secound past before my life diminished
I would thank God for his mercy, and say it is finished
