My friend invited me on that Sunday morn to a grand baptism
In the cold Sea
Doubtful, and not ready to join this public show
I remained silent as one by one
they entered the water to be dipped by the pastor
In the cold Sea
"Wash away your sins, sister!" they all told to me.
"Come receive the Spirit of the Lord! Be baptized!"
In the cold Sea
Was it the right time for me to be baptized?
I pondered long and hard as I watched them slip
In the cold Sea
I prayed to have faith like all those who eagerly
Rushed down to be baptized
In the cold Sea
I was a young mother who was career bound,
Too busy I thought for such things like this
In the cold Sea
And so I missed the chance to be baptized because of pride,
I did not want to wet my hair and smodge my make-up
In the cold Sea
But the Lord called me again years later in a more forceful way
To be baptised by fire. Not with those church folks
In the cold Sea
Thus I was brought humble to my knees before my Lord
And this time I knew I was baptized not
In the cold Sea
But by the fires of the Stroke that changed me forever
God had a purpose for me
I received HIS anointing to spread HIS Word
