: :+:+: My Slice Of Watermellon: :+:+: Child's Poem
It was last summer when I was forced to cry
As my slice of watermellon disappeared before my eyes
Could you ever believe it, I was much surprised
Mommy said, "Now honey, you better eat it if you are wise!'
But I was not really hungry as I'd eaten all day long
I thought I'd leave it for later cuz my sister knew whom it belonged
So I left it nicely covered up, right upon the shelf
No-one knew about it only my little self
Mom heard my shouts of help and hurried in to see
My watermellon was eaten and there was none left for me
"Who ate my watermellon?" I asked between my tears
Someone came in to eat it! was my aweful fear
"I left it right here on this shelf and now my watermellon's gone!"
"Well, hush, my little darling! You'll find out who ate it before the dawn!"
In vain Mom tried to calm me but I was not satisfied
"Who ate my watermellon? I must know now!" I cried!
Well Mom was so much smarter and next day she set a trap
She left a slice of mellon out while we took a nap
Then suddenly we were wide awake and heard a ringing sound
On the door Mom had hung a little bell and it was ringing loud
" We've got the person now!' Mom happily told me, "you'll find out at last!"
"Who is the culprit, come follow me fast!"
The scene was so very funny, we had to stop and laugh!
For a family of small mice had nibbled down to half
