I Do Not Fear the Darkness
It is not the dark most of us fear, it is what is in the dark...
It is not the darkness which I fear
but the things that lie therein.
All the hate and anger does appear
and the nightmares start again.
The shouting of an angry mob
as fire engulfs the city.
In my sleep that heartfelt sob
sensing the lack of pity.
Visions of destruction and death
reek havoc on my being.
I feel the cold, clear, icy breath
of all the things I'm seeing.
Twilight causes my heart to fail.
Could tomorrow ever come?
Each night it seems I relive the tale
it permeates and leaves me numb.
The darkness is not the enemy.
It seems my mind is not my friend.
How I wish I could at last be free
and the night would finally end.
