 I Pray behind my Shadow

I Pray behind my Shadow

By TheSyrian poet
Bahija Massri Adelbi

Translated by Munir Mezyed

Give me attire
From dreams,
From the shadow of words,
So that I may conceal the silence of my spirit,
Sprinkle the Memory
With an alphabet
From the myths of evening....
Then I will fold the trip of coldness,
Pray behind my shadow
So that I may be able to sleep...!!

Give me transparent attire
and stay away from me..!
If it discloses the mirrors of my melodies,
It will unveil my grief
as whenever I wrap my self in it
I hide my grief...
Give me what so ever....
As the secret overflows within me
and night moves
with the wind....!
Thus my morning becomes baffled
while I do not perceive that...!

O you who spreads in my vision
Horizons and azure..
Here I am not wearing a thing
but love....
Give me attire
from the clouds
so, whenever it embraces me
I realize its depth...!
