My First Valentine, Revisited

The sky was stolen from a colouring book
With only the lightest of breezes blowing
Two young lovers laying beside a little brook
Listening to the water, gently flowing

We were locked in love, so deep the emotion
No thought of the languid passing of time
Swearing to each other, unending, undying devotion
Whilst watching the suns dependable climb

Tender truths and promises of love imparting
The sky: now slashed with crimson high above
Young lovers with no thoughts of parting
From their first most perfect day of love

Oh to relive again that day, just once more
To lay beneath that picture book cerulean sky
Inexperienced lovers, with an eagerness to explore
Still in need to wonder and question why
