What beauty we destroy with a single stroke with a meaningless gesture of the hand.
What beauty we destroy with a single stroke
with a meaningless gesture of the hand.
What marks and scars we leave behind
upon the beauty of this gracious land.
Is this our birthright to tear and burn
to shred and rip all our eyes might see?
Is it the nature of all men to rearrange
and try to vanquish God's perfect harmony?
Where once the earth was fair and growing
it now lies tarnished stark and bare.
Each and every flourish of the artist's brush
is bruised and tattered by lack of care.
The land once fertile with God's blessings
now quakes, spews, and cries.
Yet we pretend it does not really matter
as we gaze upon polluted skies.
Somehow we lost that firm conviction
to always preserve and defend.
The forests have fallen to man's advances
and the acid rain starts to descend.
All which once was wrought as perfection
by the keeper of earth and star
has become a plaything to mankind
and ultimately holds our scar.
