 THE INTIMACY OF STRANGERS

belashaktymelissaahowellsboundariesoftime
Childhood Poem

The smile on her face
still haunts me,
The dream I never dreamed
Still keeps me alive
I slip and go back
She was mine, all mine
My trees, my sun, my sky!
Happiness was me
But I forgot
and went back
Would the sky be the same?
Outside my little circle of love?
And then..
my flowers, my fields
disappeared
And I was left alone
With no sky, no moon, no sweetness
In a new cold state of existence
I felt unfairness and sorrow
For my lost perfection.
