Barefoot I've walked it many a day
Rested by a field of fresh cut hay
Stopped by the side to watch a crow on a post
Thinkin about Grandma's Sunday roast
Watch the dust settle from a old pickup truck
Find a box turtle now that's luck

Pick some blackberries by the creek
Dip in the cool water those dusty feet
Watch the deer down in a meadow fair
Smell nothin but pure country air
Stand in the pines feel a summers breeze
Chew bark from a tall gum tree

A firey evenin sun lights the high hills
No fireworks can compare to these thrills
The crickets start the evenins wane to night
The sky fills with a billion white lights
I lay down for a night of sleep
