The Toad On The Road

The toad on the road
Had a heavy load.

The cat on the mat
Screamed and spat.

The sheep in the jeep
Fell fast asleep.

The snake in the cake
Had a wobbly shake.

The worm with the perm
Did nothing but squirm.

The goat in the coat
Was trying to float.

The snail in the pail
Was locked in the jail.

The bear on the chair
Had a silly stare.

The frog on the log
Was trying to jog.

The hound on the mound
Was fat and round.

The pig in the wig
Did a funny jig.

The fish in the dish
Started to swish.

The lion in the mine
Drank litres of wine.

The boar with the snore
Lived in a drawer.

The louse in the house
Tickled the mouse.

The bird with the word
Could not be heard.

The fly in the pie
Did nothing but sigh.

Joy Weare.
23rd February, 2007.

This is just a bit of fun and nonsense
that I wrote for my class to help them
with their spelling.

I play a game with them called 'Round the world with rhyme'
A child walks around the room and when I say stop,
whoever they are behind, competes with them to say
a word that rhymes with the word I call.
