Each one for us a different song
A lilting tune to sing along
A favourite hymn or spiritual psalm
But all in praise of the great I AM
A beautiful tune may not convey
The message the hymn writer has to say
It is the words we should hear
Although the music may delight the ear
Some will the Scriptures read
To Gospel preachers pay much heed
Whatever will carry the message home
Be it sermon; hymn or verse of poem
The Lord his message will converse
In speech and song and simple verse
And broadcast wide upon the air
His Word is spread everywhere
We stand again at dawning year
Words of comfort we want to hear
Of peace of mind and good health
Blessed with happiness and of wealth
And all those things of which you speak
Are hard to find although you seek
For all the dreams and hopes you cherish
May fade away and quickly perish
This year is starting; it's ending dim
What can I do but point you to Him
And all the days that He will allow
He will share with you if to Him you bow
And all the praise of poem and song
Your lips will utter this whole year long
And write with pen and speak the word
That Jesus Christ is your King and Lord
