 CHAUCER'S  FABLES

"Chaucer's Fables" is another verse from my "Salisbury Tales" series.

Canterbury's Nights tales...
Is just as pale...
Compared to the snails...
Lurking in the Purbecks trails...
Brave at heart...
Are those strawberry tarts...
Who drive upon passion carts...
Children of the grave...
Are so brave...
Like fairies wearing boots in lawyer's suits.
Pilgrims...
Undertaking journeys...
In search of shrines that are so divine...
Purveyors of fine wines and beers tempt travelers...
While the Pilgrim Fathers...
Walk barefoot under the moonlit sky...
Eating homemade apple pies...
Fortuna & Aphrodite...
Have a plight on how to keep love alight...
Amongst the Christian flocks.
While Brigit & Kronos...
Wish to increase fertility...
As part of health & healing...
Is rather appealing.
If a potion you should crave...
One to make the timid brave...
For the power of flight...
Free from gravity's restraints.
How quaint the flight of saints.
Canterbury's cathedral is rather regal...
While Lowrey paints matchstick cats & dogs...
As he eats Lancashire hotpot in this spot.
All's well that ends well...
For the King's men...
Measure for Measure...
Shakespeare played upon Stratford's fields...
As a citizen of this place.
The fire-flies lighten up the skies...
Dancing to A Winter's Tale...
On April the twenty third in the year of our Lord...
Sixteen hundred & sixteen.
