Tandem III

He rides his tandem solo
Sad witness to the fact
He lost his dear partner
During a loving act

They found a little lane
Assuming they'd be alone
But along came an ancient tractor
With a load of broken paving stone
And the driver so entranced
By their subtle act of wooing
Was too busy watching them
Instead of what he was doing
During the crash
He suffered whiplash
And a crack on the face.
And being called a disgrace
By his bitter erstwhile partner
Who swiftly disappeared
Down that quiet country lane
Never to be seen
By him again
What really rankled
Such an embarrassing factor
She was sat on the knee
Of the driver of that tractor

He rides his tandem solo
Sad witness to the fact
He lost his dear partner
During a loving act
