A Tribute To All Those Old Cowboys
I writing a tribute to all those old cowboys
Those that are honestly within~
The ones that did all that stuff cowboys did
And at times wore that cowboy grin~
The ones that now sit out the front at night
And gaze into the stars~
Thinking about everything in the past
The hard work , The lost loves and the bars~
Favourite horses and of course old dogs
The things that could have been~
All those happier memories
The many places that they'v seen~
Of all the things that they could tell you
And then all the ones that don't believe a word~
As they'v not done or been or won
And they think that old cowboys are obsurb~
But old cowboys know more than one thinks
About so many things in life that be~
With their own brand of loneliness
That sometimes will never set them free~
And now after all this time
A favourite pipe , an old dog , a memory~
A front step out front at night
A kind of feeling that one's still free~
To do all those things again
But they know they never will~
And having done them anyways
They'd not go back those dreams again to fill~
but they are very special people
Never underestimate them at all~
I dred the day come what may
There'll be non left to answer the call~
I've been this way since my first day
And yes I've further yet to go~
But all my best friends are old cowboys
And I'm getting closer every day you know~
That favourite hat , a photograph
Wondering what ever happened to
And sitting out the front sometimes
I do what older cowboys do~
Could never change , would not rearrange
The lives so many live~
Just did my thing in outback and ring
Never took I only ever gave and give~
Never strove to be that famours one
Hardly any knew my name~
My insignificance my invisibility
I liked it that way if it was all the same~
But rest assure forever more
I've been a good man too~
All my life through endless strife
But I was saved it's true~
I met a girl , best in the world
I thought there for awhile~
I would die one day under sky
Near a campfire wearing that cowboys smile~
But someone took pitty on me from above
And after all of this never ending time~
I found that one , to love me till times done
For eternity she will be mine~
I do say , mean it too today
It was more luck than good managment dare I say~
That I met the love of my life
True love till my dying day~
Never a day I don't give thanks
I still can't believe my heart has found a home~
One thats real , knows how I feel
I well could have ended up alone~
But all the time in this life of mine
I think about all those real good souls that be~
All those old cowboys that lived cowboy lives
That to the letter are just like me~
God bless you brothers of my heart
And likewise sisters too~
Just always remember deep within
God above he sure loves you~
We are not a bad bunch at all
And we could never ever change~
Not since that day in past so far away
When we as kids dreamt of riding out on that range~
Been there done that and lots more
It's been a long road , so much sadness and great joy~
Have a drink on me and in all sincerity
Theres a lot worse than to be an old cowboy~

God Bless Every One Of You
Love to you n yours ..
