 Body Bags

I know I'm right,
the mother said.
To send my son off to war.
If we don't stop the communists now,
they will invade the USA.
I don't want to be killed by a Red in my bed,
of that I'm really sure.
While far away in a distant land,
a body bag was zipped-up in Vietnam.

I know I'm right,
the grandmother said.
To send my grandson off to war.
They destroyed the twin towers,
didn't they?
Of that I'm pretty sure.
If it wasn't Iraq,
there's one thing I know.
They've got weapons of mass destruction hidden,
I know,
Of that I'm pretty sure.
While far away in a distant land,
a body bag was zipped-up in Baghdad.

I know I'm right,
the great-grandmother said.
As she patted the little boy on the head.
Here's a present for you,
it's a toy gun.
One day you'll grow up like my sons,
The President will lie,
and just like them.
You'll be sent home,
zipped-up in a body bag.
