As I think about all my old kin
Resting in their final great sleep
Their names and lives to me grow dim
Memories of them are all I have to keep
Each day they fade a little more like evenings light
For soon lost are the days of past
Gentle folk who made my life bright
Remain now only in mind and heart
Soon I to will be just a memory in thought
As my life fades like a old piece of art
None to remember those who have been
For soon lost are the days of past
My family of now knows not my family of then
As we all approach the closing of time
Our lives travel on its endless path
And winds of the future remove all sign
That any of us had come this way
For soon lost are the days of past
May someone dear to me now
Remember me after I am gone
Not in sadness or with heads bowed
But with joyful hearts filled with song
Past me on to my family to be
For soon lost are the days of past
