I find no words to ease the ache
My life is a bitter pill to take
I morn for the woman I allowed to die
The daughter of the Earth, Wind and Sky
Innocent as a child born from the womb
Now a lone phantom risen from the tomb
I prefer not to partake of the merry life
Which continues while I live in strife
'Tis best to hide my face from the day
I morn for my former self now slipped away
My thoughts have withered like leaves of Fall
No longer do I hear the morning's call
The church bells toll their melancholy tones
For this young woman who remain alone
A beautiful rose plucked in the prime of youth
Hides neath black veils of cruel truths
Do not feel sad when I pass you by
Or whenever you chance to catch my eye
You'll hear me repeat my sad proclaim
"If only I knew!" things would not be the same
