Lending A HandA whole bed of beautiful flowers One doing not so good~ The masses all in bloom so But one looks unlike what it should~ It's on that one I will concentrate And fertilize it best I can~ To have it look as lovely And beside the others thus to stand~ A small tree within my backyard Full of bird life small~ And one sitting all on it's own It's that one 'll whistle and I'll call~ I'll feed it and I'll watch it As it sits there all alone~ Doing what ever I can do To make it feel at home~ Even when I was a lad I always felt so cool~ Had so many friends around As they sat about the swimming pool~ But I'd see one sitting on their own I'd wander over and say good day~ Ask why don't they join us I've always been that way~ It is just the way I am Don't take a lot to do~ Seems to me so easy Might even save someones day it's true~ There has been times I too have been there And felt to some extent alone~ But usually there has been someone Who made me feel at home~ Just a little effort Is sometimes needed on the day~ To simply give away a smile it's so worthwhile And hold out a hand to come what may~ They say what goes around Comes around sometimes it's true~ And in this life of woe and strife I thought one day that could be you~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
