Poetry For Everyday People
An Intimate Evening With Time
I'm always impressed
at how well I climb walls,
mentally, a chess match with
life, walls and life, wheels
and life, memories eating
minutes, memories always
feeding on time, the moon
a friend to all lonely in the night,
I'm tired but sleep lately has
held too many bad dreams,
I'm typing my way downtown
to a smoky room with a Blues
band, a corner table, pen and
napkins, glass of wine, sugar
love makes good honey,
a grown tired man who can't get
clearance from his mind to go to
sleep, death wakes me all hours of
the night to remind me, I remind it
it can't beat me here.
at how well I climb walls,
mentally, a chess match with
life, walls and life, wheels
and life, memories eating
minutes, memories always
feeding on time, the moon
a friend to all lonely in the night,
I'm tired but sleep lately has
held too many bad dreams,
I'm typing my way downtown
to a smoky room with a Blues
band, a corner table, pen and
napkins, glass of wine, sugar
love makes good honey,
a grown tired man who can't get
clearance from his mind to go to
sleep, death wakes me all hours of
the night to remind me, I remind it
it can't beat me here.
