There stark and bare stripped by the light
she sees the years both dark and bright.
Here in the glass she loses that disguise
and sees the marks around her eyes.

She takes the rag and attempts to irradiate
those imperfections, each small mistake.
She takes her hand touches each blemished spot
and tells herself by honesty they were wrought.

Her life has been long and sometimes unkind
and now this bare face helped to remind.
A radiant smile crosses that weathered face
and unconcerned she sees that inner grace.
