~The Thanksgiving Guest~©Thanksgiving went as planned this past year, we had turkey and stuffing coming out of each ear. We followed it up with pumpkin pie, and egg nog to put a gleam in your eye. But as we sat enjoying our feast, a knock at the door as quiet as you please. There on the porch stood a pitiful sight to see, twas a child just looking for a bite to eat. Please dear lady could i have some food, if not i'll go away quiet i won't brood. Well surely child pull up a chair, to let you not eat just wouldn't be fair. I hated to see her leave she was so sweet, she smiled and said thank you for something to eat. Later that evening as we sat quietly, a knock at the door as loud as you please. There on the porch stood a hulk of a man, that same child in his arms who once here did stand. My daughter was starving and with her last breath, just wanted a good meal as her last request. Thank you for being so gracious and taking her in, from this day on you'll have a special guardian. Each year as you celebrate thanksgiving, think of all who give thanks just for living: When thanksgiving leaves may you be blessed with the peaceful bounty it weaves!
