Soft are your lips
Like the wind
Warm is your breath
Like the desert
Hard are your calluses
Like the mountain
Soft is your skin
Like the wheat fields
Wet are your tears
Like the ocean
Deep is your soul
Like the void of space.
Beloved,
What mortal can compare to you?
How do humans make love?
How do you make love?
How can one small mortal
Be enough for my soul
When I have tasted the heavens?
Yet I envy them sometimes
When he or she has a hand to hold
A lover to kiss
A mate to sleep with every night.
Someone to share memories
And moments
To cherish and remember,
Together.
I have had a husband
And cherished him
I have had a wife
And cherished her
As my Beloved blessed me as I pursued
Human forms for expressions of
Physical love.
Shehe knew and let me go
With her blessing
Knowing I would come home
To him.
And so I have.
I know so much now
I know that when I make love
The thing I sought
And found in human lovers
Was and is my Beloved
I would not have found
Him
Her
Unless and until
I had first lost them both.
In the tenderness of the women
I found Goddess
In the embrace of the men
I found God
Together in them both
I found my Beloved of Beloveds
The Divine,
My Shehe.
The more humans
I have to make love to
In a single crowd
The happier I am
The boundaries of my heart
And it's container
Defy the limits
Set forth by cultures
Religions
Standards
Norms, things defined
By mortals
And limited viewpoints
A few taste this
Passion
And desire
I speak of
Rock stars
Hollywood Legends
Politicians
Spiritual leaders
Of large congregations
And yet,
I doubt they
Are conscious
Of why they are addicted
To it
In fact I doubt they
Know what “it” is.
Beloved
They seek you
Outside of normal
Experience.
Hearts desire to be filled to their capacity
And yet we have no idea what that actually is.
And so few of us are allowed to touch that level
Can reach that place…
It is a lonely place
Sometimes
Because there are
So few of us who understand.
Who know
The thin veil of the divine that
Permeates all of existence,
As a personal reality.
Beloved…
Embrace me.
Take me back,
Into your enormous arms,
Where all it takes
Is a shift in consciousness
To slip into you,
Your Love
The In-between place.
My mother always said
That one day the world
Would catch up with me
I'm afraid I'm still waiting
And I don't know that it will
Ever happen.
But perhaps a few will join me
In this place
This space
This time
And enjoy the company
For a blink in eternity.
