Memories FragranceThe fasination of memory of smell I find often in life rings a bell~ Someone talking about a particular thing The memory right back a fragrance does bring~ Could be just about anything over time And when one thinks back again~ That very smell it lingers in your mind And always just the same~ So many things I remember I liked The fragrance of during my time~ And If I think back about them The fragrance enters my mind~ The smell of rain on dry soil Blossoms from our oldest trees~ The fragrance of pure honey In the hives with the bees~ The salty smell of an ocean From the beach at sunrise~ Could be my grandmothers perfume Now that would burn ones eyes~ Always loved the fresh smell of apples When they were really ripe~ And who could ever forget it The smell of my grandfathers pipe~ As soon as one stops to think At times the fragrance is there~ All within my memory but That same smell fills the air~ Fragrances stored within minds All within memory over time~ I only have to mention when I met her And I can smell that beautiful wine~ To me it's just fasination How our memory remembers too~ Those special age old fragrances That mean so much to me and you~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
