Poetry For Everyday People
Corner Bar
We all bleed alone
in some fashion
in some way
all of us stressed
until happy hour
counting the minutes
five o'clock
and the first beer
is magic pouring
in sorrow
livings dirty
and clean isn't
an option
at the bar
senses simmer
in curling smoke
and blues
lonely feels safe
inside the bottle
love around
the corner
at the bar
senses simmer
in curling smoke
and blues
gay is happy here,
we're all their to
tolerate, forget,
let loose the ties
of confinement
the constant
judgments
we all bleed alone
in some fashion
in some way
a poem on a napkin
a phone number
a toast
a smile
something to take
back home
when we're alone again
maybe we'll wake
with a naked stranger
still horny vodka mouth
on the rocks
it's a wonderful place
the corner bar
not to be abused nor
put down
nor taken for granted
it's the fountain of life
telling us more about
ourselves than we'll ever
admit
releasing what we ache
to release
philosophically poetic
needed
see you there.
