I was born in Liverpool many a moon ago,
And my life has been a trial;
But negative energies are not my way,
So I go through life on a smile!
But you know, sometimes, well ok, a lot,
I have felt negative and sad and down,
Let this health stuff get on top of me,
And it made me walk around in frown!
And I've not eaten foods that I'd love to,
At times I have done without a lot!
Because this or that may happen to me,
Oh what a lot of problems I've got!
Then the other week I went for a meal,
And there on the menu; oh cool!
Was chocolate galore, cakes and cream!
And a great big strawberry fool!!
So on looking at these wonderful treats,
My mate sternly said to me;
‘Don't you dare, you can't eat that!!'
And I replied; ‘No? Well just watch me!'
So I placed my order and holy cow!
What a lot of pudding' I'd got!
I have to add, most sternly so;
I think I should be shot!
I mean to say, it's a sin isn't it?
To have something we are not allowed?
Well I love the exception against the rule!
And I make my thoughts clear and loud!
So I ate the pudding before my eyes,
And I savoured every bit too!
And as I ate, she sat and watched…
Just of course, as people do!
I looked and smiled, and lapped it up!
As I ate and ate some more!
While she looked on horrified,
As her chin almost hit the floor!
‘You know you're not allowed to eat that!
Why eat it when you're diabetic?' She said.
So I looked up from my triple chocolate sweet,
And said; ‘I want to enjoy life before I'm dead!'
She shook her head and couldn't understand;
Why I would put my health in jeopardy!
So I smiled a smile, and looked at her;
And simply said; ‘I deserve to be happy!'
So every now and again I have a treat,
And savour every morsel too!
So that when I am no longer here;
I did all the things rebellion made me do!
Things in moderation you see…
Are the makings of a happy life! That's true!
And I don't see why I shouldn't have it;
Don't you think you should indulge a little too?
