A Great Community to be a part ofEver imagine what your hometown looked like 100 years ago or what it will look like in the next 100 years. There's one little place in Indiana that might interest you. Galveston, Indiana is located in the heart of the Tipton Till Plains in Cass County and is about 7 miles North West of Kokomo and 15 miles South of Logansport. There are many legends about how Galveston happened to get it's name. There was once a saloon in (what would be called) Galveston and it is rumored that a young women used to frequent it. The gal always wore a vest, hence our town's namesake, "Gal with a vest on." Galveston was once featured on a Saturday morning episode of "Across Indiana." Originally our land was covered with heavy growth of trees, small bushes and vines, which had to be cut down before the land could be opened up for cultivation. This took place over 200 years ago; since then the work, sweat and tears of the pioneers has made this township one of the most highly productive areas in Indiana. Although farming and livestock are still around today, we hope to live, build, love and enjoy this little portion of land that has been given to us by God and developed by our forefathers. We are a very small Community, but we have a great deal of respect for our Firefighter's and E.M.T.'s who saves our lives everyday. We are friendly folks who are hard working, honest and God loving Christian people. Written in 2002/Copyright in 2002 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
