 What is Truth?
This was asked of Jesus when He was on trial
Pilate found no guilt in Him or cause for denial
At Passover the people could set a prisoner free
Barabbas was released and Jesus nailed to the tree

Imagine you are on trial and found guilty of a crime
An innocent man says he will pay and do your time
That is what Jesus did by paying for all of your sin
Only He can forgive and cleanse you from within

Jesus came to earth as our example and to die
He always proclaimed the truth and did not lie
His miracles proved that He was the Son of God
Only God's power led Him on the way He trod

There were some people who saw Jesus as a man
They did not know He would fulfill God's plan
To them He was simply the son of a carpenter
A good teacher, but He was not their Redeemer

As if death on the cross was not torture enough
The soldiers brutally treated Jesus very rough
He was beaten badly and endured great blood loss
So close to death, He had to carry His own cross

The road to Calvary was agonizing all of the way
Finally someone else carried His cross that day
Then they drove the nails deep in His hands and feet
In pain, He cried "Father forgive them" He did repeat

Peter declared openly he would never deny Jesus
But he did three times, so where does that leave us?
Salvation is a free gift to all who choose to believe
If you reject His offer, it is yourself that you deceive
