England , United KingdomAway , away I might well be From the country I was born~ But ever so amazed am I From rising of a morning to night time yawn~ Such history and neatness Oldest century remains and modern too~ Every day come what may I am entertained by it all it's true~ I mostly find within my mind The welcoming fact seems to me~ That here in this wonderful land It's much like when I first came to be~ Theres still values and integrity Common sense it still remains~ I see a rather proud society Hardly any papers and litter at all in the drains~ Today I first met the english Bobbies The might I say the nicest folk that be~ That only work for a wage Saving all from themselves and stupidity~ They take their lives in their hands So often this thought escapes a mind~ And still every day just for a pay They serve all as one best they can you'll find~ All people I meet upon the street Only too happy if they have time~ To stop and say hello and how are you Talk a little or some of yesterdays wine~ It's so much to me like going back To a time I once could understand~ When people had time for one another And sincerelly knew the meaning of the shake of a hand~ I've made here a few honest and real true friends Those that will be till my dying day~ And so much so I sincerelly know My being here was well worth traveling all this way~ I've never seen such gardens And I was born in a garden nursery~ Blooms here I've never set my eyes upon It's all magnificance to me~ And then I come to remember That my own home land far away~ Was given it's birth and all it's worth From the Untied Kingdom and England upon the day~ I have to say in all sincerity It's very much like being back within a time~ And much like going home to where I come from When things were as I remember them back when so fine~ They say a soul is never too old to learn And I can swear on my heart how this is true~ I'm learning things and remembering others A lot I honestly never knew~ I've been an educated man in life In areas some might never know~ But I am older and much wiser And inlove as I've never been so there you go~ I'm healthier than I've been in a long time And I've never had a sick day yet~ Except for a few accidents along the way But up again always a good man he will get~ I love every thing about this country I wish most here could only know~ Just how wonderful it is to be here And what their homeland has for them it is so~ I've traveled far around so many places I've traveled far and wide~ And here I see so much sincerity And a country that still rightfully retains it's pride~ So all within this old and beautiful land From all of it's boundaries come what may~ Just know that you all have a beautiful home And it's well worth keeping it just this way ~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
