In the Prose of Passion

Keep the Spark Going

(I didn't know what to call this so I hope this title is fitting.)

Keep the Spark Going

It is early in the morning and she lies there in her bed
I try to be so careful, not to wake that sleepy head
I brush up against the bedpost making a little noise
I turn around to whisper in a soft soothing voice

“Stay asleep my precious wife. Keep on dreaming your dreams
It's only your imagination; caused by your lack of sleep”
She opens her eyes slowly and looks around the room
I smell the fragrance of her body; her favorite brand of perfume

She turned and look right at me and without saying a word
Her eyes began to water; I seemed to have upset her
She pulled off all her covers and got right out of bed
She walked towards the dresser; she seemed to be on edge

I said that I was sorry to wake her from her sleep
I tried to be real quiet; please don't be mad at me
She didn't seem to hear me; she picked up our old picture
She held it to her chest; what was wrong I wasn't sure

That's when she cried out loud, “Why did you have to take him
He was still too young to be taken up to heaven
I said, “Honey what are you talking about. Why are you crying those tears
I'm here right beside you; please listen, can't you hear

She didn't seem to hear me; I tried to caress her skin
She winced when I touched her; her body just went limp
She looked up at the ceiling with tears in her eyes
She prayed to God in Heaven; that's when I realized

My dear she couldn't hear me I wasn't there to see
I'm no longer of this earth my soul has been set free
The last thing I remember lying in this bed
Family all around me as I breathed my last breath

So why am I still here I do not understand
That's when I heard this voice and the touch of His hand
He told me I was finished it's time to come on home
But before you leave her there's something she must know

Tell her that you love her that you always will
Tell her that I need her to do her Fathers will
She needs to keep it going the spark that I did light
She must spread the message and continue with the fight

So I whispered in her ear I saw her give a smile
I told her that I loved her she'll always be wife
But Christ He needs a favor please spread His precious love
And someday you will join me in Heaven far above
